Course Overview

Patients have traditionally sought treatment when concerned with the way their teeth look, feel or function. Over the past few decades, the desire for optimal aesthetics has increasingly motivated patients to seek treatment. Practitioners must now learn to satisfy their patients’ increasing aesthetic demands while assimilating an increasing amount of information regarding diagnostics, materials and techniques. With the proper approach, highly aesthetic outcomes can be achieved at the same time treatment outcomes are engineered for long term success.

Objectives

• Learn how to effectively incorporate aesthetics into a comprehensive diagnosis.
• Understand smile analysis and its importance in guiding treatment decisions.
• Learn to incorporate functional, structural and periodontal considerations into developing a treatment plan.
• Learn about treatment approaches that manage or reduce functional risk and improve long term prognosis.

PRESENTER

Elizabeth (Betsy) M. Bakeman, DDS

Dr. Bakeman is a member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and is an Accredited Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). Dr. Bakeman serves as an examiner for both the Accreditation and the Fellowship examinations administered by the AACD. She served as Chairman of Accreditation for the AACD and Chairman of the American Board of Cosmetic Dentistry. She currently serves as Vice President of the AACD. She is an Adjunct Faculty member of the Kois Center in Seattle, Washington. She has served as Section Editor for Compendium and the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry and presently serves on several editorial boards. She maintains a full-time private practice in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
